What's in a name? "Shalom" is the Hebrew word for peace and greeting. "Sankofa" is a symbol from the Akan peoples of West Africa, meaning 'go back and fetch it,' urging us to look to our past to build our future. Join us as we unite these powerful ideas and celebrate the rich tapestry of Black Jewish life, with artful narratives of all kinds, including lyrical performances, keynotes, and photos, from and about the Black Jewish diaspora, and a special talk on the vibrant stories and voices from the Black Jewish queer community. This event is a space for all of us to explore what it means to belong, fostering a more inclusive and peaceful community together.
Join us during Black History Month for Shalom, Sankofa, a Black Jewish Cultural Celebration!
